To ensure high-quality production, it is essential to select disease-resistant, high-yield, and premium winter crown varieties such as No. 1 Xintaimici. These seedlings are grafted using suitable rootstocks like white or black pumpkin seeds, depending on market demand. Before sowing, it is crucial to disinfect the seeds and the seedbed to promote the growth of healthy, disease-free seedlings. Secondly, apply organic fertilizer in combination with biological fertilizers before planting. Mix 7–10 cubic meters of well-decomposed chicken manure, cow dung, and compost with 2–3 kg of biological nitrogen fertilizer and 4–5 kg of Dinghao potash fertilizer (mixed thoroughly with fine soil). This ensures balanced nutrition for the crops and supports long-term soil health. Third, maintain cleanliness in the greenhouse. Before fumigation, remove all residual plants, leaves, and weeds. Use bactericidal agents like chlorothalonil and dichlorvos to disinfect the structure, reducing pest and disease risks significantly. Fourth, implement high ridge planting under mulch. Construct north-south oriented ridges with a base width of 90 cm, top width of 70 cm, and height of 12 cm. Space the ridges 30 cm apart at the base and 50 cm at the top. Plant two rows of seedlings per ridge with a row spacing of 50–27–30 cm, leaving a central ditch for irrigation. Cover with a 0.9–1 m wide mulch film, making holes for the seedlings and watering through the film. This method improves soil temperature, maintains moisture, and reduces humidity to prevent diseases. Fifth, manage fertilization and watering scientifically. Proper nutrient application not only nourishes the plants but also increases soil temperature, promoting strong growth. When planting, use Harvest No. 1 to irrigate the roots, which helps establish new roots and strengthens the seedlings. After the fruit sets, apply Jianzhibao biological fertilizer or Hezhen bio-organic fertilizer every five to seven days, mixing it with water. Additionally, spray Harvest No. 1 diluted 800 times every 5–7 days during the flowering stage to enhance plant resilience, increase yield, and improve quality. Watering should be done carefully. Avoid watering before the fruit sets to encourage root development. Once the fruit reaches 10 cm, start watering once every 10–15 days initially, then every 6–8 days later. Water on sunny days, and after watering, raise the greenhouse temperature to 32–35°C before ventilating to reduce humidity and prevent disease outbreaks. Finally, implement comprehensive pest and disease control measures. Alongside cultural practices like disease-free seedling cultivation, proper pruning, and humidity control, use safe pesticides like polyoxomycin, Wuyincin, streptomycin, and avermectin for targeted treatment. During rainy or foggy weather, apply high-efficiency chemical aerosols for timely prevention.
