NdFeB Magnet (also called as 'Neodymium Iron Boron Magnet', 'Neodymium Magnet'), known as Rare Earth Magnet, has been the strongest commercially permanent magnet since 1980s. According to different production processes, NdFeB Magnet is divided into sintered NdFeB magnet and bonded NdFeB magnet.
Sintered NdFeB magnet
Sintered NdFeB magnet, (also written as 'sintered neodymium magnet'), is manufactured by sintering. Depending on  grades, sintered NdFeB magnet can work properly under temperature 80 ºC - 200ºC. With high magnetic remanence, high coercive force and high magnetic energy product, sintered NdFeB magnet is used widely in modern industries, including motors, speakers, generators, CD\DVD-ROM, nuclear magnetic resonance, magnetic sensors, magnetic separators, magnetic filters, and other magnetic force control tools.
To get a finished sintered NdFeB magnet, it has to go through a series of complicated production processes, with the help of couples of equipments, including Vacuum Inducting Melting Furnace, Crusher, Jet Milling Machine, Magnetic field oriented press, Isostatic Pressing Machine, Sintering Furnace and kinds of testing equipments. And in order to get requested shape and size, and meet the final dimension tolerance, sintered NdFeB magnet is usually accomplished with various kinds of machines, such as drilling machine, cutting machine, grinding machine, etc.
Sintered NdFeB magnet is available in several normal shapes, disc, rod, rectangular, cube, ring, sphere, arc, and tile. Some irregular shapes can be also machined according to the drawings.
Sintered NdFeB magnet is very easy to be rusted. To prevent it from corroding, surface treatment is needed.
Common surface treatments for it include nickel plating, galvanization, electrophoresis and epoxy resin. Also, phosphorization can be used to delay oxide and rust. In application, we should consider completely the sintered NdFeB magnet's actual application environment and period, then choose the fittest treatment method for it.
Since sintered NdFeB magnet is rigid, fragile and easy to break, meanwhile, it is easy to be corroded, so when dealing with it, especially the one which is already magnetized, we must be careful about it, avoiding any damages or breaches.
