Fountain Parts Equipment, fountain accessories, fountain parts, fountain equipments Wuxi Jinshanghua Environmental Equipment Co., Ltd , https://www.jshfountain.com On April 8, a recent investigation revealed that several popular domestic vehicle models, including Changan Yuexiang, Mitsubishi Outlander, Chevrolet Aveo Europe, and Changan Suzuki SX4, had their steering wheels and headrests found to contain high levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are known carcinogens. Notably, the steering wheel of the Changan Yuexiang tested at 23.5 mg/Kg, far exceeding the limits set by the European Union and German GS standards.
Under the German GS standard, the second-class limit for adult exposure is 10 mg/Kg or less, applicable when skin comes into contact with consumer products for more than 30 seconds. This includes materials not intended for mouth contact or use by children under three. The report from the media showed that the Changan Yuexiang's steering wheel exceeded the EU Class II standard by over two times, and if measured against the stricter Class I standard, it was more than 100 times higher.
The media also tested steering wheels from the Suzuki SX4 and Chevrolet Aveo Europe models sold in Europe. These were sent to a domestic third-party laboratory, and no PAHs were found in the German-purchased versions. However, in the first batch of locally produced models—Suzuki Tianyu SX4 and Shanghai GM Chevrolet Aveo Europe—PAHs were detected at 6.4 mg/Kg and 7.0 mg/Kg, respectively.
Experts from the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences noted that PAHs are naturally present in the environment, but their presence in automotive products has raised growing concerns. "Exposure through inhalation or skin contact with high levels of PAHs can increase cancer risk," they warned. This issue has sparked public debate and calls for stricter regulations to ensure consumer safety.
