As the amplitude of vibration increases, the system's nonlinearity gradually diminishes. When the amplitude becomes sufficiently large (A ≥ 10h), the motion of the system can be approximated as simple harmonic motion. Based on this analysis, we can summarize that the spring-mass system exhibits the following characteristics: first, when the vibration is small, the nonlinear effects are pronounced. However, as the amplitude increases, these nonlinear effects weaken, and the system’s behavior tends to become more linear, resembling simple harmonic motion at higher amplitudes. This is in contrast to typical nonlinear systems such as pendulums, compound pendulums, soft-spring oscillators, or hard-spring oscillators, which tend to display stronger nonlinear effects at larger amplitudes and behave more linearly at smaller ones. These findings highlight the importance of carefully analyzing micro-vibration systems, as they cannot always be treated as purely linear. The nonlinear behavior of the spring-mass system is highly sensitive to the parameter h. At small vibrations, variations in h significantly influence the strength of the cubic nonlinearity present in the Duffing oscillator. Specifically, when h equals l₀, the system behaves like a cubic oscillator. However, when h is large, the system can be considered approximately linear. This insight opens up new possibilities for experimental studies on Duffing and cubic oscillators, allowing for a more comprehensive investigation of their properties. This will be the focus of our future research. In summary, this paper investigates the dynamic behavior of a class of simple spring-mass systems. Through numerical solutions of the governing differential equations, we have identified key characteristics of the system's motion. The results have important implications for engineering design and Other fields involving vibration analysis, offering valuable guidance for practical applications.
