First Construction of 1000V DC Photovoltaic Power Generation System by NTT Facilities

Increase the capacity of the inverter and reduce the number of inverters used

Increase the overall system efficiency of photovoltaic power plants from the normal 70% to the highest 90%

NTT Facility Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo) announced that the large-scale photovoltaic power station “F Tsuchiura Photovoltaic Power Plant” with an output power of 1.682 MW built in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan has started generating power from February 28, 2014. The completion ceremony was held on March 6. This is the company's 21st photovoltaic power plant, with an estimated annual power generation of 1,892 MWh.

There are two major characteristics of the Fujio PV power station. One is to use a high-voltage direct current (DC) voltage of 1000V to form a photovoltaic system. This will help reduce the cost of setting up the power generation system, increase the amount of power generated, and increase the overall efficiency of the system.

According to reports, this is the first time that the NTT facility has adopted a 1000V DC system, thereby reducing the number of string strings of solar cells by up to 40% compared to the original 600V DC system, which also reduces wiring. The number of boxes.

The use of a 1000V DC system allows the inverter to have a large capacity, which is also an advantage. Taking a photovoltaic power plant with an output power of 2MW as an example, after selecting a larger-capacity inverter, the number of inverters used can be reduced by one.

As the number of inverters is reduced, the number of inverter enclosures and power distribution boxes will also decrease. This can further reduce the initial cost of photovoltaic power plants.

The NTT facility emphasizes that increasing the voltage can reduce the wiring loss and improve the conversion efficiency of the inverter, so it is expected that the overall efficiency of the photovoltaic power station system will be increased from the normal 70% to the maximum 90%.

Another major feature of the Fujipu photovoltaic power plant is the use of a grass control film that inhibits the growth of weeds. This is the first time that the NTT facility has used anti-grass membranes to reduce weeding costs. (Special Contributor: Kato Shinichi, Nikkei BP Institute of Clean Technology)
