The Shenzhen Inspection and Quarantine Bureau detected a batch of imported fertilizers with severely unqualified quality and returned them for disposal. The batch of chemical fertilizers totaled 48 tons, worth approximately US$77,000. This is the imported fertiliser with the most serious unqualified conditions detected in the history of the port of Shenzhen. It is also the first time that the port has returned unqualified imported fertilizer.

The batch of fertilizer is a nitrogen-containing phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer produced in Belgium, a total of 48 tons, the value of about 77,000 US dollars. This batch of goods is a high-potassium compound fertilizer formulated by importers and distributors. The content of potassium is higher than that of ordinary chemical fertilizers, and the price is about 2-3 times that of ordinary chemical fertilizers.

The results of sampling and testing of these fertilizers showed that the urea nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, and potassium contents of the batch of compound fertilizer were 5.42%, 4.22%, and 25.92%, respectively, and the minimum content of the above-mentioned three elements was 6.6%, 5.4 and 5.4, respectively. The requirements for % and 36.0% do not match. Among them, the actual content of potassium is lower than the minimum content stipulated in the contract by 10%, which is a big gap with the trade contract. To this end, the Bureau will handle the shipment of unqualified fertilizers.
