In this Southeast Asian-style renovation project, the goal was to create a unique and stylish living space within a modest budget of 50,000 yuan. The property is a one-bedroom, two-living-room, one-bathroom apartment with a total area of 72 square meters. Despite the small size, the design focused on making every detail count to achieve a special and cohesive look.
The owner had a clear vision: they wanted their home to reflect their love for retro aesthetics, Southeast Asian culture, and the vibrant energy of Yunnan. The designer embraced these elements, combining them with a loft-inspired style that brought in a touch of industrial coolness. Bright colors were used strategically to add warmth and personality to the space.
One of the standout features is the retro coffee table paired with a bold red sofa, creating an eye-catching focal point in the living area. The white TV background wall, combined with a custom bookcase, adds both functionality and visual interest. Every element was carefully selected to ensure harmony and balance, even in a challenging layout.
Because knocking down walls wasn't an option, the designer focused on subtle but impactful details—such as color choices, furniture placement, and decorative accents—to transform the space into something truly unique. The dining area features a retro-style dining table that complements the overall aesthetic, while the hallway showcases thoughtful design touches that enhance the flow of the apartment.
This project proves that even with limited space and budget, a well-thought-out design can make a big difference. It’s all about attention to detail and personal expression.
