According to the latest data released by APPR (American Association of Waste Plastics Recyclers) and ACC (American Chemical Council), the total amount of plastic bottles recovered in the country in 2013 was 2.9 billion pounds, an increase of 120 million pounds compared with the previous year.

In 2013, the recycling rate of plastic bottles in the United States increased by 4.3% year-on-year, continuing to follow the good momentum of continuous growth in the past 20 years.

According to industry insiders, although the average growth rate of plastic bottle recycling in the United States last year was 4.3%, the development of plastic bottle recycling in major states in 2013 was extremely uneven, with growth rates ranging from 0.4% to 30.9%.

“In recent years, the US plastics recycling industry is growing. The industry aims to help retailers and packagers achieve sustainable growth through the recycling of high-quality plastic waste.” AppR Association Chairman Steve Alexander recently published a copy. Currently, more and more packers are more inclined to use plastic bottles. However, with the increasing popularity of lightweight design, consumers have also placed more demanding requirements on plastic packaging materials. Consumers also have higher requirements for plastic bottle packaging design.

APPR said that the current plastic bottle materials on the market are mainly PET, HDPE and PP. Among them, PET and HDPE plastic bottles accounted for 96% of the total.
