On the eve of the Gartner Data Center meeting in Las Vegas, scheduled from December 9th to 12th, the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) has announced that its INCITS T11 Standards Committee has finalized the sixth generation of the 32Gbps Fibre Channel physical interface standard, known as FC-PI-6. This major update is set to be submitted to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in the first quarter of next year. The release of this standard marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Fibre Channel technology, pushing the boundaries of storage connectivity performance.
Skip Jones, chairman of the FCIA, emphasized that the association is actively driving the adoption of the Fibre Channel protocol across various industries. He noted that many of the new applications are driven by end-user demands for faster and more reliable data transfer. According to Jones, the 32Gbps Fibre Channel standard represents the highest single-channel serial transmission rate ever achieved in the history of storage connectivity.
Currently, the maximum speed available in Fibre Channel is 16Gbps. With the introduction of the 32Gbps standard, data transfer rates will double, offering a substantial improvement in performance. Equipment supporting this new standard is expected to become available in 2015 and 2016, paving the way for more efficient data center operations and enhanced scalability for enterprises relying on high-speed storage solutions. This advancement underscores the ongoing commitment of the FCIA to support the evolving needs of the data storage industry.
China star optics can provide customers with a variety of replicated grating products such as diffraction gratings, reflective gratings, holographic gratings, concave gratings etc. to meet different needs. Maximum ruled area is up to 300x300mm2 for plane ruled diffraction gratings. For replicated diffraction and transmission gratings the ruling density can be from 20 grooves per millimeter to 2400 grooves per millimeter, wavelength from 0.2 micron to 25 microns.Â
