The just-concluded June marked the 12th National "Safety Production Month" and the first "Safety Production Activity Month" for Benlang. It can be said that the overall organization was effective, with strong leadership and active participation from all departments. Although the goal of "zero work injuries" wasn't fully achieved, there were no major incidents, and the overall efforts resulted in relatively noticeable positive outcomes.
In general, the main causes of safety accidents can be summarized into three key factors: weak safety awareness, overconfidence in one’s ability to handle safety risks, and non-compliance with rules and regulations. In simpler terms, these are often referred to as “unforeseen events,†“don’t care, no problem†attitudes, and “unruly behavior.†To address these issues, the “Safety Production Activity Month†focused on enhancing safety awareness, reinforcing the implementation of safety systems and operating procedures, improving training to boost safety skills, optimizing the working environment, and strengthening inspections and supervision. These measures aim to cultivate a culture where every employee develops good habits like “safety for everyone, at all times,†thereby reinforcing safety responsibilities, improving the safety environment, and ensuring better protection for all.
Despite the positive outcomes, there are still several areas that require reflection and improvement:
Firstly, the target of “zero work injuries†was not fully met. A suggestion for improvement could be to adopt “zero injury†as a monthly safety goal starting from July, rather than waiting until next year's Safety Production Month. Each unit could track and evaluate their performance monthly, publicly recognizing those who truly maintain a “strong safety wall.â€
Secondly, as it was the first “Safety Production Activity Month,†the scope of activities was limited. The event mainly took place at the headquarters, while subsidiaries did not participate actively. Even within the headquarters, only the production line was the main focus, with less involvement from other departments. To improve this, future activities should cover all branches of Dabenlang, with coordinated efforts between the headquarters and subsidiaries. A unified inspection and supervision system across all subsidiaries should be established, and a comprehensive safety education and training program should be implemented, covering all departments and every employee. Special attention should be given to new employees, with strict enforcement of “rigid training†protocols.
Thirdly, both the form and content of the safety promotion efforts were lacking. To improve this, more planning is needed to ensure that safety concepts are consistently and vividly communicated through regular publicity and educational campaigns.
Although the “Safety Production Activity Month†has passed, safety remains the company’s top priority. Every month should be a safety month, every week a safety week, and every day a safety day. We must always keep the safety string tight and never let our guard down. The importance of safety cannot be overstated.
“Building a safe Great Wall and heading toward a bright future†is the company’s safety culture. Safety affects each of us, and it is closely tied to the happiness of every employee and their families. Safety production requires the continuous participation of all of us.
Safety is always more important than Mount Tai.
