Additionally, Mengzhou has maintained its position among the top ten counties and cities in Henan Province for eight consecutive years.
A few days ago, the city received another piece of good news: it has been officially designated as a national IPR demonstration city. This recognition highlights Mengzhou's successful implementation of intellectual property strategies and its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation and driving economic growth.
Since the beginning of this year, Mengzhou has focused on the guiding principle of "enhancing intellectual property advantages and boosting core competitiveness." The city has actively promoted an intellectual property strategy, aiming to build new competitive advantages through innovation and provide strong support for enterprise transformation and development. Last year, the city invested 38 million yuan in science and technology, with five local companies becoming key players in setting industry standards. The number of patent applications in the city exceeded 400, ranking first in Jiaozuo City and third in the province, marking a significant leap in the development of intellectual property rights.
To support these efforts, the city has introduced a series of policies, including the "Opinions on Strengthening Scientific and Technological Innovation to Promote Economic Development" and the "Mengzhou Patent Grant Management Measures." These policies have established dedicated funds such as the science and technology innovation fund, the patent technology implementation and transformation fund, and the intellectual property special fund. The total investment in science and technology last year reached 38 million yuan, encouraging enterprises to strengthen independent innovation and ensuring the smooth and efficient progress of scientific and technological work.
In addition, the city has improved its service model by shifting from a passive approach to a proactive one. Instead of waiting for enterprises to come forward, the city now offers timely and effective assistance to help companies enhance their awareness of patent protection. Several local companies have become leaders in setting national or industry standards. For example, Zhongyuan Inner Distribution, Longfeng Fur, Feimeng Company, and Tailijie have taken the lead in setting standards for cylinder liners, sheep shearing, superhard materials, and dietary fiber, respectively. This gives them greater influence within their industries. Guangji Pharmaceutical’s nuclear yellow bio-fermentation process has been designated as an international initiative and is included in the national list of restricted export technologies. Meanwhile, Dadi Alloy Company’s series of super-hard tungsten carbide products have been selected as part of a special international cooperation project, further enhancing the city’s reputation in the global market.
