1. Selection Principles

(1) Follow national, industry, or local standards when selecting protective equipment. This ensures that the products meet the required safety and quality benchmarks.

(2) Choose the type, nature, concentration (or strength), and protective performance of the equipment based on the working environment, physical exertion level, and the degree of exposure to harmful substances in the job position. This helps ensure that the protection is both effective and appropriate for the specific risks involved.

(3) Ensure that the equipment is comfortable to wear and does not hinder work efficiency. It should be easy to use and not cause any unnecessary inconvenience during daily tasks.

2. Requirements for Employers

(1) Based on the occupational hazards present in the workplace, employers must provide free labor protection supplies as specified in the "Standard for the Provision of Labor Protective Equipment (Provisional)" issued by the State Economic and Trade Commission in 2000. These items should be provided according to national regulations, and they should not be replaced with cash or other goods.

(2) Purchase special labor protection articles only from authorized suppliers or manufacturers. All health care products must have the "three certificates": production license, product certification, and safety certification. Before use, these items should be inspected and approved by the company’s safety management department. Regular checks of the protective functions should also be conducted to ensure their effectiveness.

(3) Educate employees on the proper use of protective equipment through the "three sessions": checking the reliability of the equipment, using it correctly, and maintaining it properly. Supervision and regular inspections should also be carried out to ensure compliance.

(4) Replace or scrap expired or damaged protective equipment promptly, as per the product specifications. Using outdated or faulty equipment can compromise safety and increase the risk of accidents.

(5) Establish and maintain a comprehensive management system for the procurement, acceptance, storage, distribution, usage, replacement, and retirement of protective equipment. Regular supervision and inspections should be conducted to ensure all procedures are followed effectively.

3. Proper Use of Labor Protection Products

(1) Before using any protective equipment, perform a visual inspection to check its condition. This includes verifying the level of protection against harmful factors, checking for any defects or damage, ensuring that all components are securely assembled, and confirming that the equipment operates smoothly.

(2) Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully when using the equipment. The user manual provides essential guidelines on how to use the product safely and effectively.

(3) Never use protective equipment beyond its designated limits or outside the scope of its intended function. Only use products that are officially approved by the state, have passed relevant inspections, and meet the required standards. Avoid using substandard or unapproved items, and do not replace them arbitrarily with inferior alternatives.
